William Henry Prescott Brounger was born in Cape Town 27-4-1879 and was educated at the South African College in Cape Town and at the Central technical college in London.He was a member of the engineering staff with the Bengal Nagpur Railway & was PA to the chief engineer.He first landed in France 14-11-1915 serving with the 18th service battalion of the Royal Fusiliers.He was commissioned in to the Northumberland Fusiliers 4-8-1916 & was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 9-4-1917 serving with the 22nd battalion (3rd Tyneside Scottish) & is buried in Rocllincourt Valley cemetery. The award of the August to November clasp is confirmed on the recipients medal index card.
